Bogdan Bogdanov’s newest book is on the border between the scientific spirit and the freedom of Man to think about himself and the others. It uses the inevitable tool of dichotomy, which according to the author is necessary every time the universal subject of human existence is being discussed.

The title of the book carries the following idea underlying all the texts and connecting Man with Man, Man with society, Man with civilization, Man with God, which goes like this:


“Of course, I usually cannot manage to get unstuck from the static state of being alone to which I am used to and which I consider for myself. I do not know who is to blame. I do know, however, that going beyond is possible. The state of being alone is apparent, to a definite extent. Its static character is somewhat wished and reached for a single moment. I have seen its breaking and overcoming in other people, sometimes in myself too”.


“… The individual and the human community are opposable categories. They mean equal and unequal things as well, as far as the individual is being talked about as part of the community with lower value and as something of higher value that cannot be reduced to it. “


“You see – the hug is funny and impossible. However, inspired by the intimacy, you speak like a man with qualities differing from yours. You are enlarged, rearranged. Isn’t that caressing communication a hug, sublimated in speech that can cause other types of behavior of indirectness? Isn’t that civilization – relocation and raising to power?”


“Man has his depth and his history because he follows a winding road to the height of the external world. That is why not the presence of God in Man makes him a Man, as in Marcus Aurelius, but vise versa – the presence of Man in God.”
